The Green Room

Article by Griselda Martinez-Longfall

There is a marijuana medical dispensary location in the town of Woodcrest called The Green Room. I decided to stop by and have a chat with the owner to see what exactly the Green Room offers and how it would benefit the citizens of Woodcrest. Ms. Lydia Bennet, took the time out to answer a few questions for me.

Q. Could you tell us a bit about yourself?

A: First and foremost, I’m Dr. Lydia Bennet and I am both the current Medical Director of the Woodcrest University Clinic and the owner of this medical marijuana dispensary called The Green Room. I originally hail from New York City and received most of my education there. I obtained my Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences before moving on to get my Master’s in Business Administration at NYU. For med school, I went to Cornell, then did a residency in emergency medicine and a fellowship in the intensive care both at New York Presbyterian Hospital. I was looking for a change of pace and heard of the job posting here at the hospital, and also wanted to expand my aid to the community in the business end as well, which led to the opening of The Green Room and where we are today.

Q. What made you decide to open up the Green Room?

A: I have read a lot of great research on the health benefits of marijuana and hope that research continues to pinpoint exact strains and varieties that benefit those with physical and mental conditions both. I hope to educate the community on risks and benefits to marijuana as a medical treatment option to some common ailments and assist in bringing them quality products that have gone through rigorous testing to ensure it’s only the best of the best products.

Q. What are the requirements to be able to purchase from here?

A. One must file for a medical marijuana license which can be found at the medical clinic. Once you are approved for the license you can come to The Green Room and get what is needed.

Q. Do you plan to host any type of seminars or educational classes on the benefit of medical marijuana verses the use of street marijuana?

A. I’ve been working closely with WCPD to get the logistics and legalities in order before coordinating any future events together. We do have an ongoing campaign for getting students legalized when it comes to marijuana usage.  Reign Vermilion has been instrumental in that process.

Well, there you have it Woodcresters. If you feel that you are in need of medical marijuana, I suggest you go apply for the license and give The Green Room a visit.
