As I promised, I made my way over to The Loneleigh Petal and had a very nice conversation with Loneleigh about not only her shop but what she intends to bring to our community.
Q. What made you decide to open up a flower shop?
A. Landscaping is something that always intrigued me since I backpacked through South America after my high school graduation. Even high in the Andes, landscaping plays a major role in the success of the Bolivian indigenous peoples. Q. What services do you offer?
A. I offer a variety of arrangements showcasing our native plants. I can create arrangements for any event on campus or off-campus if necessary. I also provide greens, succulents, and flowers to anyone who would like to spruce up their work or living space. I also do my research up here on the patio, trying to propagate hydrangeas that do well in the changing climate of our state.
Q. Let say if someone wanted to spruce up their yard or the inside of there home or dorm room. What is the process they need to contact you? Is there a online form or a form located inside your store?
A. Eventually, I will have a moment to put together an easier way to reach out to me after hours.
Q. Great, I will have to get with you. I would like to spruce up my dorm room. So in all, your goal is to help the people of WC to bring some beautiful bloom into theirs lives as well as find what type of flower or plants suits them and their lifestyle?
A. Absolutely. People fail to realize how much plants can improve your mood, your concentration… even the smallest succulent will add some fresh air to your living or work space!
Q. So, what would you like to tell the great people of Woodcrest about either you or you flower shop?
A. Even the most novice of gardeners can appreciate plants, even the proverbial black thumbs out there! Woodcrest is home to beautiful landscapes, so simply walk outside to appreciate the varied plants we find here. Those who want to take a piece of the coast into their work or living space can visit the Loneleigh Petal to search for the plant most appropriate to their lifestyle.
Q. Are you currently hiring?
A. Indeed I am. Work here is definitely picking up, so anyone who is interested in learning more about plants is welcome to stop by the shop to learn more about the role of a floral assistant. Even those who know nothing about plants are welcome to join me here. Just having coverage while I’m working on propagation is so appreciated!
