Sunday was Tri Pi Day, a day that would go down in history as one of the most memorable events of the Spring 2025 RUSH at Woodcrest. The party got off to an exciting start promptly at 4 p.m., with Tri Pi leading the charge to transport everyone back to the vibrant and colorful 1980s. As soon as you stepped onto the rink, you were hit with a wave of nostalgia, greeted by neon lights that flickered in shades of pink, green, and blue. The atmosphere was electric, and the air was filled with the upbeat, classic tunes of the ’80s, spun by Tri Pi’s very own Hecate, who was expertly mixing tracks that got everyone in the mood to dance and skate.
It wasn’t just the music that had people moving—everyone was having a blast, whether they were racing around the rink, trying to set a new speed record, or engaging in friendly dance-offs right in the middle of the floor. The energy was contagious, with laughter and cheers echoing through the rink. While there were plenty of skilled skaters showing off impressive moves, there were also those who struggled to stay upright, whether due to a lack of skating experience or just becoming an unintended casualty of the intense roller races. At times, it felt like a roller derby competition, with the fierce racing and competitive spirit turning every lap into a high-stakes showdown.
For those who weren’t quite as keen on skating, the event had something for everyone. There was a lively off-site dance floor, where people could take a break from the rink and keep the groove going, as well as a fully stocked concession stand offering a variety of snacks, drinks, and treats. It was the perfect place to refuel, chat with friends, and take in the festive atmosphere. Throughout the evening, people were eating, drinking, dancing, and, most importantly, enjoying each other’s company. The motto of the night, “Skate, dance, and repeat,” seemed to be the mantra everyone embraced, and it was clear that this was exactly what they were doing—skating laps, busting out dance moves, and then doing it all over again.
