Dear Bestie 152

Dear Bestie,

Lately, I’ve been feeling really down, and I’m not even sure why. Nothing major has happened, but I just feel kind of… stuck. My friends are supportive, but I don’t want to keep bringing the mood down. How do I pull myself out of this slump when I don’t even know what’s causing it?”

Dear Feeling Stuck,

First things first—you are not alone in this. Sometimes, we feel low without an obvious reason, and that’s okay. Life isn’t just a series of big highs and big lows; sometimes, it’s the quiet, in-between moments that weigh on us the most.

Instead of trying to force yourself out of the slump, try sitting with it for a moment. Ask yourself: What do I need right now? Maybe it’s rest. Maybe it’s movement. Maybe it’s a small change in routine, like taking a walk in a new spot or listening to music you haven’t heard in a while. Little shifts can break the cycle.

As for your friends, trust me, you are not a burden. The people who care about you want to support you, just like you’d support them. You don’t have to dump every thought onto them, but it’s okay to say, “Hey, I’m feeling a little off lately. Can we just hang out and do something low-key?” Sometimes, company is the best medicine.

And if this feeling lingers for a long time, don’t hesitate to check in with yourself on a deeper level. Journaling, therapy, or even talking to a trusted mentor can help you untangle what’s going on beneath the surface.

Be kind to yourself. Slumps don’t last forever, and neither will this.

–Bestie
