The Palace Theatre presented a thrilling and nostalgic show on the evening of September 29th, 2024, as students gathered for a special 30th Anniversary screening of the 1994 classic Interview with the Vampire. Energetic viewers echoed across the small theatre as they filled it, eager to experience the fascination of the undead on the big screen.

Amid a semester filled with deadlines and exams, the show offered an escape to those watching for the first time or returning to the beloved gothic masterpiece. The saga about the vampires Louis (Brad Pitt) and Lestat (Tom Cruise), joined by the unforgettable child vampire Claudia (Kirsten Dunst), took the audience on a journey through time and immortality.

Thirty years have passed since Interview with the Vampire first enthralled audiences, yet the movie and its stars seem as eternal as the characters they portray. Tom Cruise’s charismatic portrayal of the seductive and terrifying Lestat sustains its power, while Brad Pitt’s brooding and conflicted Louis still resonates with viewers. Kirsten Dunst’s chilling performance as the eternally youthful Claudia remains one of the most memorable aspects of the story.

The screening brought together a diverse crowd, including first-year students and university graduates, all enchanted by the iconic 18th-century vampire tale in the atmospheric setting of The Palace Theatre. The plush velvet seats and old-world charm added an extra layer of immersion to the gothic visuals and haunting score.

As the credits rolled and students departed into the crisp autumn night, the consensus was clear: Interview with the Vampire remains timeless. The mix of horror, romance, and existential contemplation continues to captivate viewers, as does the undying allure of its stars.

Whether rediscovering this classic or experiencing it for the first time, the movie reminded students that, like the vampires on screen, some stories—and some actors—are truly eternal.
