Community Fair Review: A Vibrant Celebration at London Docks

Article and photography by Mandie Romano

On Sunday, September 15th, the atmosphere at London Docks was jubilant, thanks to the community fair that took place alongside the bustling Farmers’ Market. The fair was an enchanting mix of local businesses and clubs, each adorned in brightly decorated tents that promised fun, engagement, and of course, plenty of free samples. It was a wonderful opportunity for community members to bond and discover what their neighbors have to offer.

One of the event’s standout moments was the appearance of Tight Ends, who made their triumphant return after a setback caused by a bus accident. Their presence, along with the lively beats provided by DJ Bun Bun, added a festive flair, drawing people onto the dance floor and reviving spirits post-hurricane. The collaboration between local businesses and such enthusiastic energy truly showcased the resilience of our community.

As autumn approached, the air was noticeably crisper, setting the perfect backdrop for the seasonal treats at The Sweet Spot booth. The fall-themed goodies were a delightful indulgence. The Flamingo Diner also made a splash, showcasing delectable dishes that had fairgoers lining up for a taste. The variety of offerings, including The Bring Your Own Book Club (BYOB), The Woodcrest PD’s presence, and the creative books from The Klunky Monkey Book Store, and arrangements from The Loneleigh Petal, ensured there was something for everyone.

The sheer number of attendees was heartwarming to witness. Friends and college students mingled, while others danced to the upbeat music, creating an infectious sense of community. It felt more like a celebration of local pride than a mere gathering.

In conclusion, this community fair proved to be a resounding success, and the feedback was overwhelmingly positive. The energy, the food, the sense of togetherness—it all makes one hope for more events of this nature. I wholeheartedly advocate for quarterly fairs in our community, fostering connections and showcasing the vibrant spirit of London Docks.
