The Woodcrest Angry Beaver Cheerleaders welcomed the new year full of spirit. On December 31st, the cheer squad transformed their usual Wednesday practice into a New Year’s Eve celebration on the Woodcrest football field.

Dressed in Woodcrest’s signature maroon and white, the field was decorated with a large cheer sign, spirited props, oversized megaphones, pom-poms, and an abundance of festive balloons. The celebratory atmosphere drew students, friends, and supporters who gathered to watch the squad practice and celebrate together as the year came to a close.

The event began as a standard cheer practice, with each cheerleader taking a turn leading the squad. Each leader selected a song and guided the team through choreography, showcasing the squad’s talent, teamwork, and energy. The Woodcrest mascot, Harry Beaver, kept the crowd hyped throughout the evening, cheering alongside the squad and spreading school spirit across the field.

Just past the halfway point of practice, the cheerleaders paused to thank everyone who had come out to support them. They invited the crowd to stay and look to the sky for a special surprise. Cheerleaders and spectators alike gathered together as Damien Nader, fellow Woodcrest student and mascot performer, prepared to launch the fireworks display. With the help of a hired crew, Damien kicked off a stunning 20 minute fireworks show that lit up the night sky above the football field.

The fireworks dazzled the crowd with vibrant colors and breathtaking displays, drawing cheers and applause throughout the show. The grand finale featured a fireworks message spelling out “Happy New Year 2026!!,” marking a memorable and joyful start to the year. The crowd’s excitement was undeniable, and the event concluded with smiles and laughter.

The Angry Beaver Cheerleaders hope this event is just the beginning. As 2026 begins, the squad is committed to being more active within the Woodcrest community. Hosting events, engaging supporters, and continuing to spread school spirit beyond the sidelines.
