Rush Week at Woodcrest launched in true Omega fashion as the house hosted an Ugly Sweater Party, held at the beloved landmark, Grandma’s House. The cozy venue quickly filled with students sporting their boldest, brightest, and most questionably festive sweaters. The mood was upbeat from the start, thanks to DJ Abbie Vicious, who kept the crowd moving with a blend of regular hits and holiday favorites.

The night took an unexpected and hilarious turn when Rhys suddenly passed out in the middle of the gathering. For a brief moment, the room froze as students rushed to check on him. Thankfully, it became clear he had simply indulged in a little too much eggnog, sparking a wave of relieved laughter and spontaneous creativity among the crowd.

Once everyone realized the situation wasn’t serious, theories began flying. Some students suggested Rhys might actually be a zombie, which instantly turned the moment into a playful investigation. Ideas escalated quickly, ranging from testing if he would go for someone’s brain to the observation that very few in the room had enough brains to make a proper experiment. The jokes kept rolling, fueling a lighthearted energy that had everyone leaning into the chaos.

Then came the ultimate test, Nate Vosse suggested playing “Thriller,” arguing that no zombie could resist joining in. DJ Abbie embraced the moment and switched tracks, filling the room with the iconic beat. The entire party broke into the familiar choreography. In perfect comedic timing, Rhys who had been moved safely to the sofa, sat up and began to wiggle along with the music. Whether he was a zombie or simply revived by the power of Michael Jackson remains a mystery, but he definitely passed the vibe check.

As the night wound down, Omega House kept the fun going with three Ugly Sweater Awards. Ziggy Rain won funnest sweater, Hedy Eden took cutest sweater, and Zaylen Royce claimed the coveted title of ugliest sweater. Each winner walked away with a prize and bragging rights until next year.

The evening was a lively mix of laughter, friendly chaos, and festive spirit. Omega House once again proved why their events are a campus favorite, kicking off Rush Week with a holiday-themed party that blended music, mischief, memorable moments, and plenty of questionable knitwear.
