Woodcrest University’s Student Council elections are just around the corner, and this year’s lineup of candidates is full of familiar faces. Among them is Lil K. Diavala Pierce. Known around campus as LK.

When asked about herself and who she is, LK says she has been part of Woodcrest for a long time, returning after a short break to continue contributing to the campus she loves. “I’ve been instructing Performing Arts, have become one of the cheer captains, I’m in a band, and currently pledging DOE,” she shared. “I’ve also been part of other houses like Omega and Tri Pi, and I served as VP and pledge mentor for Tri Pi.”

When asked to describe her leadership style, LK said she leads with collaboration, empathy, and mindfulness. “I’m a collaborative type of leader with mental fortitude, coupled with empathy and mindfulness,” she explained. “I like to work with people, not over them.”

Her affection for Woodcrest shines through when talking about what she loves most about the university. “There’s so much I love about Woodcrest, the events, the energy, but I’d love to see more fairness when it comes to hosting them,” she said. “If someone wants to throw a seasonal event, why not? We’re supposed to support each other as a community.”

Beyond her leadership and campus involvement, LK is also a talented musician. She even wrote a song she feels captures the spirit of the university. “Woodcrest has lots of theme songs, and I created ‘Woodcrest Uni’ because it’s fun and shows what Woodcrest is, or should be, about.”

When asked why she decided to run for Student Council President, LK explained that her motivation comes from wanting to represent everyone. “What inspired me to run wasn’t just Greek Row but all of Woodcrest,” she said. “I’ve seen people having less fun because they feel like they don’t have a voice. I want to change that.”

If elected, LK hopes to create an environment where every student feels heard and included. “I know from experience what it’s like to feel shut down,” she shared. “My door will always be open to anyone. I don’t want any student to feel like they don’t matter, because every voice at Woodcrest matters.”

When it comes to handling challenges, LK believes in direct communication. “I try to talk to people and resolve disagreements respectfully,” she said. “It’s about understanding, not arguing.”

As for what she hopes to be remembered for at the end of her term, LK’s answer was simple and sincere: “I want students to remember me as someone they could talk to, someone who listened, who took their ideas on board, and made good changes.”

With her passion for unity, creativity, and fairness, LK Diavala is a candidate who brings both heart and experience to the race for Student Council President.
