Togas & Triumphs: Greek Games Closing Party

Article and Pictures by: Aly Varrington

The Greek Games came to a grand finale with the closing party, a night that blended celebration, tradition, and a touch of glamour. Organized by the Greek Council and led by Tri Pi President Lizzy Hunter, the event transformed the courtside pool between the houses into a stunning Greek oasis fit for the champions.

The setting was nothing short of magical. With the help of a professional decorating team, the pool area came alive with faux Greek columns, glowing torches, rock bonfire pots, and lush greenery woven throughout the space. The pool itself became a centerpiece of beauty, filled with floating flowers and candles that shimmered under the lights. Tables of food, drinks, and a full bar ensured no one went hungry or thirsty, while plenty of lounge areas created the perfect atmosphere to relax, mingle, and toast to the games.

The sense of community shined as each house added their own touch to the night. TAO, DOE, and DAM pitched in to add finishing details to the decor, enhancing the already enchanting space. BAD stood as a pillar of support throughout, while Sigma proudly provided the torch that symbolized the unity of the games. Music filled the air thanks to Omega, with DJ Abbie Vicious spinning an eclectic mix of tracks that kept the party moving well into the night.

Guests embraced the theme with style, arriving in creative toga inspired outfits that ranged from playful to regal. The sea of white and gold fabrics, laurel crowns, and unique spins on the classic toga in house colors made the evening a visual display of celebration.

The highlight of the night came with the awarding of the overall Greek Games champions. After weeks of fierce competition, DAM took home the gold and first place overall among the houses, a testament to their strength and consistency across events. DOE proudly claimed the silver with strong performances throughout the games, while Tri Pi celebrated a hard fought bronze, showing both competitive spirit and gracious hosting.

Laughter, music, and shared memories flowed as freely as the drinks, reminding everyone that the Greek Games are about more than competition. They’re about bringing the houses together, honoring tradition, and celebrating the bonds that make the community stronger.

With its shimmering lights, festive togas, and joyous atmosphere, the Closing Party marked the perfect conclusion to this year’s Greek Games. As the torches dimmed and the last song played, everyone left knowing they had been part of something special, an unforgettable celebration of unity, rivalry, and the spirit of the Greeks.
