Students gathered at the Woodcrest campus lecture hall for an engaging and informative sex education seminar led by Sam Roseride. The session tackled important topics surrounding sexual health, with a strong emphasis on responsibility, safety, and awareness.
Roseride opened the discussion by affirming that being sexually active is a personal choice—and one that is completely okay—so long as it’s approached with care and mindfulness. She warned against recklessness, stressing that informed decisions and safe practices are essential to maintaining both physical and emotional well-being.
The seminar covered the differences between STIs (sexually transmitted infections) and STDs (sexually transmitted diseases), including how some can be cured while others are only manageable with treatment. Roseride highlighted the importance of using condoms not only as a method to prevent the transmission of infections, but also as a means of reducing the risk of unintended pregnancies.
In addition, she addressed a common misconception by informing attendees that condoms are not just for men. Female condoms are also available and serve as a reliable alternative if a male partner refuses to use protection.
Roseride’s presentation was met with thoughtful questions and appreciation, leaving attendees better equipped to make educated choices about their sexual health.
