On the evening of June 23, the community gathered for The Magical Art Auction, a vibrant event hosted by Teaching Assistant Griselda Martinez-Longfall. The auction, inspired by this year’s Relay for Life theme “Magic,” showcased student and faculty-created artworks meant to stir the imagination, spark wonder, and support a powerful cause. Proceeds from the night were donated directly to the American Cancer Society through Relay for Life.
The gallery featured pieces from five talented artists, including Martinez-Longfall herself. The auction opened with two abstract works by artist Chellie: Blue Night Wing and Sunsetting Yacht. Her mysterious compositions set the tone for an evening where color and curiosity danced together on every canvas. Fierce bidding between attendees like Tocho Winchester and Phoenixflames Kukulcan escalated quickly—culminating in a 30,000L bid from Winchester for Blue Night Wing.
Sabrina Southpaw contributed two ethereal versions of The Fairy of Hope and Strength, one with a touching poem and one without. Bidders were captivated by the emotional pull of Southpaw’s fairy-inspired imagery. After a spirited back-and-forth, Kukulcan secured the poetic version for 8,000L, while Alex Anissa FoXx triumphantly claimed the poem-less version at 5,000L.
Teagan Nightfall’s Do You Believe in Magic—a whimsical display of unicorns, gemstones, and pastel light—sparked a miniature bidding war that ended with Phoenixflames once again taking home the piece for 6,000L. Martinez-Longfall closed the event with three spellbinding pieces of her own: Binded with Magic, The Bookbinder’s Magic Poem, and The Magic Within, each showcasing her signature blend of literary imagery and glowing enchantment.
Throughout the event, Griselda Martinez-Longfall guided the auction with charisma and heart, emphasizing not only the technical skill of her students but the emotional magic behind each piece. As the final gavel fell, over L$55,000 had been raised—an extraordinary show of creativity, generosity, and community spirit.
