On May 5, 2025, the students, staff, and community of Woodcrest University came together with determination and heart for a cause bigger than any one of us—the fight against cancer. From the early hours of the morning at 7:00am until the evening glow of 5:00pm, the Relay For Life Fun Run brought the campus to life with energy, laughter, and purpose.
Led by team captains Lizzy Winchester and Rai Alto, the event invited everyone to hit the track, whether they were seasoned runners or casual walkers. The turnout was incredible, with 59 participants (and one very memorable chicken) joining in throughout the day. Together, the community completed a whopping 807.44 laps, plus a bonus chicken lap that no one will soon forget. That added up to 87.47 hours of movement and momentum, with each lap averaging around 6.5 minutes.
The real victory, though, came in the form of generosity. The Fun Run raised a stunning 189,899K, contributing to the Woodcrest team’s ongoing Relay For Life season total of 536,000K. Every step was taken in honor, in memory, and in support of those affected by cancer, proving once again that Woodcrest is more than just a university—it’s a community that shows up.
In true Woodcrest fashion, the day wasn’t without a little friendly competition and well-deserved recognition. Trophies were awarded in several categories, including:
