DAM Welcomes New Brothers at Gangsters and Flappers Bash

Article by Loneleigh Resident with photography by Thomas Evans

On Saturday, March 29, at 5pm, the brothers of Delta Alpha Mu traded their usual campus threads for pinstripes and fedoras as they transformed the Woodcrest Star Depot downtown into a scene straight out of the roaring twenties. The occasion? An initiation celebration in honor of DAM’s newest brothers: Devin James Ohana Sempier and Ryder Johnson.

Themed “Gangsters and Flappers,” the event invited guests to don their best vintage glamour. The depot, with its polished wood beams and echo of old rail whispers, provided the perfect backdrop for a speakeasy-style soirée. DAM brothers, friends, and campus figures alike sipped mocktails in coupe glasses and nibbled on hors d’oeuvres that would’ve made Gatsby proud. Both dressed to impress, Devin and Ryder, the stars of the evening, were met with cheers and clinking glasses. As the night progressed, the dance floor filled with flappers in fringe and bootleggers with suspenders.

The celebration was more than just a nod to the past—it was a welcome to a future shared by brothers, bound by commitment and camaraderie. And while the feathers may have settled and the jazz faded into the Woodcrest night, the bonds forged that evening are sure to carry on.
