Dear Readers,
With Rush Week just around the corner, excitement is in the air. Whether you’re stepping into Greek life for the first time or gearing up for another round of brotherhood and sisterhood, preparation is key. Before next week, review a few tips to help you make the most of this whirlwind of socials, parties, and events!
First and foremost, keep an open mind. Rush is about discovering your place among peers who share your interests and values. Every house has its own vibe, and sometimes the one you least expect to click with becomes your new family. Take your time to meet people, ask questions, and don’t rush (pun intended) into a decision.
Presentation matters, but authenticity is even more important. Be yourself, because that’s who they want to know. Dress comfortably yet confidently, and wear something that makes you feel good. Whether it’s your favorite shirt or your lucky pair of sneakers, confidence shows when you feel at ease.
It’s also important to remember that joining a Greek house isn’t the only way to find your community at Woodcrest. Plenty of students thrive without being part of Greek life, and that’s perfectly okay. Clubs, intramural sports, and campus events all offer opportunities to build lasting connections and make the most of your time here. Don’t feel pressured to join just because it seems like everyone else is doing it. Find what works best for you.
Get your rest. It’s easy to burn out in the excitement of it all, but take time to recharge between events. A little self-care will go a long way in keeping your energy up and your enthusiasm genuine.
Lastly, stay respectful. Whether you’re a prospective member or a seasoned brother or sister, remember that Rush Week is about building connections. Treat everyone you meet with kindness and leave any preconceptions at the door.
Good luck to everyone preparing for Rush! Whether you find your new home or just make some lasting memories, know that the Woodcrest community is behind you. We can’t wait to see who steps up to the challenge and joins the ranks of our Greek houses.
Happy Rushing!
