Q: What made you decide to go to Woodcrest?
A: I came to Woodcrest to finish my Masters in Business Management and at the same time opened Woodcrest Skate and Apparel. COVID-19 impacted a lot of small businesses, including my newly opened store. Once the dust settled, I re-opened the store with a re-brand called ‘Sanctuary Skate Shop’, in the newly revitalized Downtown.
Q: What is the one thing that you love about Woodcrest?
A: The people. The community will play a big part in most small businesses, and the ones that just hangout at the skate shop are the real ones. Without them, there would be no point in having a store at all.
Q: What would you say has been your biggest accomplishment so far at Woodcrest?
A: Honestly, just keeping the skate shop alive. At the time of opening, skate culture around the campus wasn’t huge, but we’re starting to see people get more into skateboarding, hell.. it’s even in the Olympics now.
Q: What would you consider your most embarrassing moment at Woodcrest?
A: Phew, there’s a few to be honest but the one that comes to mind is during a field trip out to a forest, I dropped a tab of acid and missed the bus back down to campus and got stuck out there overnight.. in the winter.. with no jacket. The next morning a group of hikers found me and brought me back down the mountain and I was still tripping balls. Not sure if that counts, but it was the funniest looking back.
Q: What is the one thing that you think people will remember you for in Woodcrest?
A: Hopefully not the grumpy old man yelling at Tik-Tokkers, but being the kind hearted genuine friend that you can always find at the local skate shop.
