A Night to Remember: Sigma and Tri Pi’s Relay for Life 2025 Kickoff

On Saturday, February 15, 2025, Sigma and Tri Pi kicked off the Relay for Life 2025 Campaign with the “SigPi Relay for Life.” This kickoff event featured three engaging parts. It began with Tri Pi’s “Sweethearts and Spirits,” located in Woodcrest University’s very own quad. They hosted a delightful hour of sweets and spirits, offering a variety of delectable baked goods and expertly crafted cocktails. It was the perfect combination to attract dessert lovers, cocktail enthusiasts, and those eager to support a worthy charitable cause—Relay for Life fit that bill to a T.

After everyone indulged in sweets and drinks, the next event took place at the park stage, where Sigma set up the Open Mic session. Jackson “Stiles” Winchester served as our one-of-a-kind host, with our favorite otherworldly Gothic Queen, Poe, as the DJ. As Poe eloquently put it, “People stood up, took the mic, opened their hearts. Stories of loss, love, survival, and resilience filled the air, weaving us together in ways no lecture, no assignment, no ordinary day ever could. It was the kind of moment that reminds you, despite our differences, despite the occasional chaos of life, when one of us is hurting, we all feel it. And when one of us rises, we all rise.” I couldn’t have said it better myself. It was an event etched into many of our hearts.

After such an emotional experience, the final event took place at the Main Event Stage, where the Tri Pi Dance Team delivered a spectacular performance. Set against a beautifully customized stage with pink smoke, colorful lights, and vibrant flowers, the dancers wore sparkling pink spandex outfits, accented with diamond-studded belly chains and crisp white sneakers. Their routines were executed with precision, but the true highlight was the grand finale to “Next Level,” where the dancers gave it their all.

All three events aimed to raise money for Relay for Life—and raise money they did. The campaign collected an impressive total of $302,390! As Rai said, “Your support fuels lifesaving research, patient care, and vital resources for those fighting this battle. Every dollar, every step, and every act of kindness brings hope, strength, and change to those who need it most. Together, we are making an impact. Together, we are stronger.”

I’ve always been proud to be a Woodcrest Beaver, but this night reminded me why that pride runs so deep.
