On the third Thursday of January, Woodcrest University witnessed an inspiring milestone with the debut of Shakespeare’s Regret. This captivating event marked the opening night of Allie Desiree and Griselda Martinez-Longfall’s much-anticipated poetry club, a creative sanctuary hosted within the cozy confines of the campus Starpugs Café. The ambiance was electric, with the aroma of freshly brewed coffee mingling with the palpable excitement of attendees ready to dive into a world of poetic expression.

The poetry club was envisioned as a haven where individuals could channel their creativity and share their unique perspectives through the art of words. What makes this club special is its openness to diverse forms of expression—participants are encouraged to bring their poetry to life in any way they feel inspired. Whether through freestyle recitations, musical accompaniments, interpretive dance, or experimental performances, the club thrives on celebrating the boundless possibilities of art.

The opening night featuring a lineup of original works from students and faculty alike. Each performance radiated authenticity, and the emotional depth of the presentations left the audience spellbound. Listeners were moved to tears, and even moments of quiet reflection, proving the transformative power of words shared in a safe, supportive environment.

For those who couldn’t attend the opening, there’s no need to be in remorse. The poetry club meets every third Thursday of the month at 6 p.m. in the welcoming atmosphere of Starpugs. Whether you’re a seasoned poet, a first-time performer, or simply someone who loves to listen and connect, this is your chance to join a vibrant community of creatives.
