Dear Bestie,
I’ve been single for a while. Now that I’m into a routine with my classes and extracurricular activities, I’m ready to start dating again, but…. I’m not sure how to build a strong and healthy relationship. My last relationship ended badly, and I don’t want to make the same mistakes again. What’s your best advice for making a relationship work?
Thanks,

Dear Nervous,
Before you can start a relationship with anyone you need to ask yourself what kind of person you see yourself with. Throw that out and go get a drink. No person is worth the inevitable heartbreak and breaking of your peace. My drink of choice happens to be Chardonnay. In all seriousness, a golden rule is to always be truthful. Let your partner know your true feelings on every topic. Always have your partner’s side in public and if you happen to disagree, talk through it like adults in private. Compromise is key! Make sure you’re not taking more than you’re giving and vice-versa. Remember, you chose this person for all their flaws and perfections. Most of all, remember that you don’t always have to be right.
Love Always,
Bestie
