A Celebration of Psychedelic Legacy

Article by Loneleigh Resident with photography by Mariella DeRosa

On the evening of October 22 at 6:00 PM, the MEH pad took a vibrant, mind-expanding detour from the usual to honor the birthday of Timothy Leary, the Harvard professor turned psychedelic icon. Known for his pioneering work with LSD and psychedelics, Leary’s legacy pulses with a spirit of open-mindedness, experimentation, and the pursuit of altered states. MEH channeled this energy with fervor, paying homage to the man who not only advocated for LSD but also spent a lifetime advocating for expanded consciousness and freedom.

The celebration kicked off with electronic beats and visual spectacles orchestrated by DJ d-oo-b, a composer of electronic music, while Kalyca illuminated the space with mesmerizing light shows. Together, they crafted a soundscape that carried attendees through an immersive experience, making the night feel almost out-of-body. Known for curating some of MEH’s most memorable raves, d-oo-b had the dance floor in sync with the beats, each track pushing the limits of the night’s psychedelic tribute.

Timothy Leary may have once professed a fondness for “turning on, tuning in, and dropping out,” but at MEH’s tribute, it was all about turning up and tuning in to the spirit of a counter-culture legend. With beats pulsing, lights dancing, and MEH revelers lost in the groove, the party was a fitting tribute to the man who preached freedom in every sense.
