Purchase a DAM Pledge for Charity!

Article by Mandie Romano with photography by Rio Dela Cruz

The Purchase a DAM Pledge event held on September 6th at the Greek Row pool showcased creativity and community spirit as DAM sought to engage their pledges in a fun and spirited way. In a unique twist on the traditional charity auction, participants donned speedos and a cupcake — while enthusiastically shaking their booties, all for a noble cause. This year, instead of bidding with their own money, DAM provided each participant with funds to place their bids, creating an unusual yet exhilarating atmosphere. All proceeds from the auction flowed to Sister Margaret’s Center for Wayward Women, making the stakes even higher for both bidders and pledges alike.

As the evening unfolded, the competition among those bidding became fierce. Each pledge put themselves up for auction, offering their time for a date with the winning bidder. The excitement was palpable as bids soared to the maximum amount given by DAM, resulting in a substantial donation for the charity. Among the surprising entrants was Yoshi from SEX, who selflessly volunteered to be auctioned off, embodying the spirit of generosity that the event aimed to promote. The thrill peaked when Thomas Evans, the president of DAM, threw his own hat into the ring, adding a fun twist to an already lively night.

The ambiance was electric, thanks to DJ Adam Spade, whose upbeat playlist got everyone dancing—not just the pledges but the audience as well. The pool deck was alive with laughter, cheers, and friendly banter, all heightened by the open bar presided over by DAM pledge Tocho Winchester, who ensured that everyone had their fair share of refreshments. Despite a bit of a chill in the air, the energy remained unabated, with many attendees taking to the water, embodying the spirit of camaraderie and fun that the event was designed to evoke. Overall, the Purchase a DAM Pledge event was a resounding success, merging entertainment and philanthropy in a way that left a lasting impact on both participants and the charity it supported.
