The WCPD Open House

Article by Griselda Martinez-Longfall

On Sunday, September 1, the Woodcrest Police Department hosted an open house event, inviting the community to explore their new facility and engage with the department’s staff. The event was well-attended, and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. The staff were exceptional, offering a friendly and informative experience for all attendees. They were eager to answer any questions posed by the visitors and provided clear guidance on how to obtain additional information if needed.

One of the highlights of the open house was the guided tours of the new police department. Attendees had the opportunity to see firsthand the modern facilities and innovative features of the new station, gaining insight into how the department operates and serves the community.

Throughout the event, numerous questions were raised by curious visitors. Two questions, in particular, drew significant attention. The first concerned employment opportunities within the department. The Woodcrest Police Department is actively hiring, and those interested in joining the force can apply either by visiting the new station in person or by submitting an application through the Woodcrest town website.

The second noteworthy question pertained to gun safety programs. While a gun safety course is not a requirement for obtaining a license to carry, it is highly recommended for responsible gun ownership. At present, the WCPD does not offer such a course. However, they indicated that if there is sufficient demand from the Woodcrest community, they may consider introducing a gun safety course in the future.

Overall, the open house was a successful event, offering valuable insights into the workings of the Woodcrest Police Department and fostering a stronger connection between the department and the community it serves.
