On August 5, the Tri Pi sorority held a Rush event at the Quad to entice students to pledge to the sorority. The event, characterized by its colorful decorations, enthusiastic participation, and traditional Hawaiian attire, aimed to welcome potential new members and showcase the sorority’s inclusion of varied culture and values.
The intimate gathering of attendees included members from various sororities and fraternities and pledge potentials. Grass skirts were a common sight along with leis. Tri Pi President, Bunny Fenmore, was heard saying, “Make sure if you want to lei’d, come right over here at the entrance!” Another member responded, “C’mon everyone! Let’s all get lei’d!” Needless to say, anyone who wanted to get lei’d, got lei’d.
The event had no shortage of fun and festive activities, but it was the limbo contest that truly stole the spotlight. Guests lined up eagerly, ready to show off their flexibility and competitive spirit, making it the highlight of the night. The brightest spotlight shone on Sigma member Stiles Winchester, who cleared the limbo stick at a very low height surprising many about his impressive flexibility and skill. Lucifina Nightfall nodded in agreement to her peers, saying “I think Stiles won that.”
Rush spirit was in full force and some chose to wear the theme chosen by their house, over the Hawaiian one, creating an eclectic mix of outfits. One such rebel was Jaelynn Strangelove of the DOE sorority. Jaelynn sported a sensual pirate costume that would make any pirate label her as a ‘saucy wench.’ When asked about it, she said, “Today is a pirate theme at DOE, so I am dressed as Jae the Terrible…or something like that.”
Whether Hawaiian or pirate, The Beaver Pride wishes a happy Rush season to all!
