First Responders’ BBQ

Article by Griselda Martinez-Longfall

On Sunday afternoon, the first responders held a barbeque for all the citizens and students of Woodcrest. They encouraged everyone to come on down and meet each department’s  staff. There were responders from the fire department, the police department, and the EMT.

They had a variety of food and drinks to keep everyone not only hydrated, but with a full belly as well. How could one pass up a juicy burger and an ice-cold glass of freshly squeezed lemonade? One would need to have a full belly to store up energy for all the games and activities they had available so everyone could enjoy themselves. There were some classic carnival games at the site, one of my favorites being the ring toss. The infamous dunking tank was there for our entertainment as well! So many people had great aim! At least it was nice and hot out, and the dunkee was able to cool down once they dropped into the water.

Once they tried their hands out at a few games, some decided to let loose and jammed to the awesome tunes the DJ was playing out. Overall, it was a great fun and informative event. The first responders were very friendly and answered any questions that were thrown their way. This event showed what community spirit is all about!
