Hornicorns: Unplugged and Stripped Down

When the storm hit and we were all forced to seek shelter, the gym was the only option and it quickly became overcrowded with students seeking safety. As the hours passed and the power went out, the atmosphere in the gym started to become dull and tense. That was, until the Hornicorns stepped in to save the day.

The band, which includes lead singer Andrew James, lead guitarist Adam Spade, bass and guitar player Thomas Evans, drummer Seth Longfall, and keyboardist Haruto Ono, truly captivated the audience from the very beginning. As soon as they took the stage, you could feel the energy and excitement in the air.

Their usual venues at Tight Ends and the beach were not available due to the storm, but the Hornicorns did not let that stop them from bringing us the gift of music. As they set up and started playing, the atmosphere in the gym completely shifted. Suddenly, we were all transported into their vibrant and soulful musical world. Despite the lack of power and any special effects, the Hornicorns’ stripped-down performance was just what was needed.

What struck me the most about the performance was Andrew James’ heartfelt words at the start of the show. It was clear that the band was deeply affected by the recent natural disaster that had struck Woodcrest. Despite the challenges they faced, they were determined to use their talents to lift the spirits of those in their community.

Their acoustic set was a refreshing change from their usual high-energy performances. The sound of acoustic guitars, keyboard, and percussion filled the room, and it was truly magical. It was evident that each band member was incredibly skilled and talented, and they had a great chemistry onstage.

The classic music style was the perfect choice for the evening, as it brought a sense of comfort and nostalgia to all of us huddled in the gym. Their vocals and instrumentals were spot on, and their passion and energy were contagious. The students, including myself, couldn’t help but dance to their familiar tunes. It was a much-needed release from the tension and stress of the storm.

Overall, I was thoroughly impressed by The Hornicorns’ performance. It was clear that they genuinely cared about their community and wanted to give back in any way they could. I highly recommend seeing them live if you ever have the chance.
